Everybody's a star in this Aardman Animations Oscar-winner in which animals discuss life at the zoo. Accustomed to open spaces and sunnier climes, they comment on the accomodation, diet and the English weather.

This is a useful teaching resource for high school biology / ecology. It is a good introduction to advantages and disadvatages of ex situ conservation measures.

katmed5/25/07
all of the comments lost the point- Animals need there own enviroment but in zoo's we try but just can not percieve- most ecellent film short I loved it for it spoke what is really out there- we are in denial!
futeristicsolokiller5/14/07
a well structured film. it seems that the animals that wanted to stay were only concerned with food and the ones who wanted to leave wanted space. i guess thats the main needs in life space and food.
francis634/22/07
so very true, there is nothing natural or normal in caged animals

Great film! I totaly enjoyed it! Funny some of the people didn't understand it... Maybe they should take some English classes.
Anonymous3/7/06
WONDERFUL. now can we get it for our ipods , pleeeze? :-)
Mr Tea3/1/06
Lovely stuff. Important to remember that it's not scripted. These are interviews with real people (zoo visitors, residents of an old folks home & others) who had no idea that they were going to be immortalised in plasticine as a bunch of kooky-looking animals. Remember this as you watch, and enjoy the way that the animators have 'accounted for' random background noises in the interviews by incorporating them into the animation in various cunning ways. Fabulous gentle fun.
alexa2/25/06
I thought it was adorable and funny! Some of the British humor I never got... (I probably need to take notes during Monty Python for that.) But the ANIMATION is SUPERB! I especially liked the lion. I loved them ALL!

The clip is nothing short of genius...I saw it several years ago, but it never ceases to amaze me of the time and talent it took to create it. Cheers all !

Very good video, and also Eclecticpath made it well put when he said "If I believed animals could truly formulate thoughts, these are definitely the needs of caged animals in every zoo known."
Eclecticpath10/22/05
From an animal rights supporter, and if I believed animals could truly formulate thoughts, these are definitely the needs of caged animals in every zoo known.

As always, wondrous Aardman magic & so much fun. So sorry to hear about the fire, that's so sad. I hope not too many of those wonderful creations were lost. :(
Rob C 10/13/05
A Great laugh for all ages. 10/10 Nick and deepest sypathies to everyone at Aardman regarding the blaze.
Rob C BloodSuka10/13/05
Great.. pity about Aardman Animations gettin torched on the day of the U.S release. Lucky Nick thought to bring Wallace and Gromit from the film WITH HIM in a HEAVY DUTY METAL SUITCASE!!!
Anonymous10/13/05
ha ha ha i roflol for ever graet job
tim10/12/05
get with it chuck, this was a great piece, Nick Parks has a great sense of humor
kel12ly10/12/05
"Wallace and Gromit" meet "Give up yer aul sins". I love it. It's not a story chuck, they are interviews.
chuck10/12/05
good art work but weak story, run on and on//////
G10/12/05
Very cute. We really are a demented race. This film may be fictional in story, yet factual in principle.
Anonymous10/12/05
It really shows how cruel it is to keep animals in 'cages'
RivD10/12/05
this is truley a wonderful and timeless piece of animation!
TheAlbaniac10/11/05
Wonderful! I quite like the leisurely pace of this and the 'authenticity' of the interviews. If animals could speak, this is how :).
j.retso10/11/05
great, even at 16 years old now!!!
Anonymous10/11/05
A bit boreing, the series is starting to repeat itself?
obed10/11/05

Subtle. Clever. Humorous.
Anonymous10/11/05
nick park is great shame about the fire at his studio (bit suspect don't you think)
Wade10/11/05
This film is hilariously clever!
Bob10/11/05
I first saw Creature Comforts long ago and loved it. This film was my first introduction to the work of Nick Park, and Ive been a fan ever since. Upon hearing the terrible news of the recent fire which destroyed Aardman Animations history, I had to immediately watch Creature Comforts again. I had been putting it off, but now Im going to see The Curse of the Were Rabbit tonight.
Gus8/21/05
Great! Specially the lion's perfect heavy brazilian accent. :)
Helena8/19/05

DED3/17/05
Excellent. The claymation, dialogue, and idea are all excellent.
Donald3/11/05
Aardman is really outdoing himself with this one. The way he humanizes animals is hilarious.
meghan mcdonald2/22/05
this is too cute aardmans always doing his best! this one is so cute its an animal adventure in to the mind of them! GOOD job AARDMAN!
sam i am2/17/05
This feature makes the mundane, hilarious. I wish they'd release the dvds in region 1 format! Aardman has advanced claymation a long way from "Gumby"...
Ultrapower50002/7/05
I like this film better than those boring stories people watch on the news these days. Wallace and Grommit is better.
DT2/5/05
The genius is that it's really interviews with people, then put into animals' mouths. Park did this w/other animations as well. Try to imagine what they're really talking about. The humor'sin the juxtaposition.
Martha2/3/05
Makes you think.
Anonymous2/2/05
Great! Accents a bit hard to understand with all the british slang --- but it is brilliant.
Danny2/2/05
Great!!! So we're not so different from out four-legged friends, are we?? Well done. Aardman's usuall good work. :-)
Neri1/16/05
absolutely fantastic, another brilliant animated short from nick park...and how can you call it propaganda when all of the responses are real responses to real questions, brilliantly satirical!
